Troy Rosario is finally ready for Team Pilipinas as he reported recovery from a nose injury.
He fractured his nose prior to the 2019 Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Philippine Cup.
Wearing a mask for protection, the 6-foot-8 forward scored 22 points and had five rebounds in 28 minutes of action in his first game to help the new-look Talk ‘N Text beat rival San Miguel Beer, 104-93 on Sunday.
Rosario assured his commitment to the national team of head coach Yeng Guiao who included him in his 15-man pool.
“That’s for sure. I’m ready to suit up,” said Rosario who was reduced to a spectator in Team Pilipinas’ start of training camp last week.
“Playing for the national team is also the reason for my earlier return. I was already given clearance so I think I’m ready,” Rosario added. “It’s hard to wear a mask. It’s itchy sometimes so you have to adjust it once in a while.”
“There’s no reason for my extended absence because I can run and jump. I can shoot. I have no major body injury so if I have to wear a mask and adjust to it until I completely heals, then so be it,” he concluded.
Raymond Almazan (ankle sprain) is the only injured player awaited in the 15-man pool.
