Victorico “Ricky” Vargas will remain as chairman of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Board as it begins its 44th season.
The 66-year old Vargas did not disappoint as he, together with Commissioner Willie Marcial, succeeded in unifying the once wrangling PBA Board
The Board of Governors announced this late Tuesday ahead of the 2019 Philippine Cup opener on 13 January at the Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan.
“I’m humbled to serve once again as the chair of the PBA Board,” said Vargas who is also the president of the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC).
Vargas, the governor of MVP flagship franchise Talk ‘N Text, was named chairman last year to mend the broken PBA Board after the controversy that led to former Commissioner Chito Narvasa’s resignation.
The 66-year old Vargas did not disappoint as he, together with Commissioner Willie Marcial, succeeded in unifying the once wrangling PBA Board.
This is now Vargas’ third term as PBA chairman after his first stint in the 2006-2007 season.
