The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) yesterday assured the family of an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) allegedly killed by fellow OFW in Saudi Arabia of justice and government assistance.
While the DFA did not identify the slain OFW, it said he was from Pampanga.
“The DFA is closely coordinating with authorities in Saudi Arabia who are investigating the death of a Filipino worker allegedly in the hands of a fellow Filipino in Riyadh on Monday,” the DFA said Wednesday.
It added that according to the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh “the victim was stabbed for unknown reasons by the suspect at their shared accommodation.”
According to the DFA, Philippine Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Adnan Alonto already expressed the embassy’s condolences to the family of the victim.
Alonto assured the victim’s family that the embassy will exert every effort to obtain justice for the victim and in the speedy repatriation of his remains. Reports said the suspect, who is also an OFW, is now in critical condition after jumping off the building where the stabbing incident happened.
