The Bureau of Immigration (BI) yesterday said it intercepted an Eritrean woman at Mactan-Cebu International Airport while attempting to leave the country using a fraudulent Canadian passport.
BI Port Operations Division chief Grifton Medina identified the passenger as Safae Hazot Medin Omran, 31.
During the interview Omar insisted that she is a Canadian citizen but discrepancies and signs of alterations on her passport gave her away.
The suspect tried to board her flight via Eva Airways bound for Taipei that would take her to Vancouver, Canada.
After questioning, Omar admitted her true nationality by presenting her Eritrean passport claiming that she paid for her Canadian passport for about 18,000 Saudi Riyals in Riyadh.
