Rep. Dakila Carlo “Dax” E. Cua joined other legislators in approving the consolidated version of the tax amnesty proposal Wednesday.
“In 2019, the government will launch a tax amnesty program for all national government taxes. This will give taxpayers, even those with cases pending in courts, an opportunity to settle their liabilities and move forward with a clean slate,” said Cua.
The general amnesty will cover estate, income, percentage and value-added taxes.
“This measure is long overdue. We hope we could have passed this sooner. The Filipino taxpayers have been waiting for this following the passage of the tax reforms late last year,” added Cua.
Both houses of Congress met for a bicameral conference to come up with a tax amnesty proposal that will become available in 2019.
The consolidated version will be ratified by both Houses of Congress before it is transmitted to the president for his signature.
