Former Special Assistant to the President Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go reiterated to members of the Philippine Councilors League (PCL) that President Rodrigo Duterte does not tolerate corruption.
Go was the guest of honor at PCL’s national board quarterly meeting and 7th series of Continuing Local Legislative Education Program on December 5, 2018.
Councilors from cities and municipalities all over the Philippines attended the event at the SMX Convention Center in SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City.
“The President’s stand here is that when a government official is corrupt, he should be removed,” said Go during his speech in the event.
Go has been Duterte’s assistant since 1998, while the latter was a representative of the first district of Davao. In 2016, he was appointed Special Assistant to the President when Duterte assumed office in Malacañang.
He had to resign from his post when he filed his candidacy for senator in October 2018.
He also told the councilors that he would help them fight corruption.
“I will look into the Government Procurement Law and see how we can better improve the guidelines to make it more efficient and effective so that we can deliver and finish projects on time without jeopardizing the trust of our people,” said Go.
In another gathering of young legislators, Go meantime stressed that he also wants to review the juvenile justice law and possibly lower the minimum age of criminal liability.
