After two years, Angel Locsin is set to grace the nightly primetime block with the highly anticipated drama, The General’s Daughter. Newly-signed talent, Regine Velasquez, sang the theme song of the show. This was revealed as one of the shows viewers can look forward to next year during ABS-CBN’s Christmas trade event on 27 November.
Bea Alonzo and Charo Santos-Concio’s movie, Eerie, is also going to hit the big screen next year. The horror-thriller is directed by protégé director Mikhail Red.
It is unclear whether Angel’s show will replace the long-running Ang Probinsyano as what rumors say, but the drama features an ensemble cast. It also stars Albert Martinez, Eula Valdez, Janice de Belen, Tirso Cruz III and Maricel Soriano. Her character, Lt. Rhian Bonifacio, is a soldier who will be separated from her family at a young age. She will be used by her captors to exact revenge on her parents. Things are already complicated but further drama will ensue as she entangles herself between two young men, a soldier (JC de Vera) and a comrade (Paulo Avelino). Her younger sister (Ryza Cenon) will also be involved in her quest for her identity and for love.
Meanwhile, Regine’s not only singing her official theme song for the network but she is set to sit on the judges’ panel on the reboot of the Philippine franchise of the popular Idol franchise. Idol Philippines leads the pack of the reality game show.
The other is World of Dance which will be hosted by 2015 Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach and Luis Manzano. Gary Valenciano, Billy Crawford and Maja Salvador will be the judges of the show. Winners will get the chance to audition for the show’s American version.
The network’s new streaming service, iWant, also showcased its offerings such as the viral Glorious and Spirits Reawaken. Beefing up its lineup for 2019 are High, Project Feb 14, Story of My Life, The End, Commuters, Touch Screen, Find the Wasabi, Jhon en Martian with Arci Muñoz and Pepe Herrera and Everybody Loves Baby Wendy starring Alex Gonzaga.
