Over a thousand job vacancies for persons with disabilities (PwD) are on tap during the employment and livelihood fair being hosted by the Department of Labor (DoLE) on Wednesday at the Quezon City Hall covered walkway.
Among the jobs available are those in the business processes outsourcing industry, electronics, advertising, hotel, health and wellness, travel, media, logistics, property management and pharmaceuticals.
RA 10524 mandates gov’t agencies to allocate 1% of their workforce to disadvantaged persons.
The fair is in celebration of the 85th founding anniversary of DoLE and is being held with the support of 30 Rotary Clubs of District 3830. It will be Rotary’s contribution to the observance of the International Day for Persons with Disability.
DoLE is pushing adherence by government agencies to a provision of Republic Act 10524, the Magna Carta for PWD, which mandates that one percent of its labor force be allocated to PWD.
The law also provides incentives to private enterprises with more than 100 employees who take in PwD.
Aside from jobs, the special event will also provide skills and livelihood opportunities.
All local government units in Metro Manila were invited to participate by sending qualified (PwD) from their respective communities to the job fair.
