The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) is closely monitoring the investigation of the alleged “suicide” of an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) in Kuwait on Tuesday.
The DFA said Philippine authorities in Kuwait are in touch with Kuwait officials on the death of the OFW, who allegedly jumped from the third floor of the residence of her employer.
“The Philippine Embassy is coordinating closely with Kuwaiti authorities who are investigating the death of the household service worker from Isabela,” the DFA said.
According to Chargé d’Affaires Noordin Lomondot, the worker reportedly jumped from the third floor of her employer’s residence in Sabahiya.
The DFA assured the next of kin in the Philippines of its assistance in the repatriation of the remains of the victim.
Meanwhile, in Bahrain, the Philippine Embassy in Manama assisted the fifth batch of beneficiaries of the Financial Assistance Program for Filipinos eligible to apply for Flexi Visas by Bahrain’s Labor Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA).
A total of 70 formerly out-of-status Filipino workers received their Blue Cards on 19 November 2018 at the Sitra Branch of the LMRA.
All of the said 70 workers received financial assistance from the Embassy for the payment of the application fee of BD449 for their Flexi Visas.
