Marko de Guzman, the University of Santo Tomas student who had been confined in a hospital since the Grab car he was riding figured in a freak accident last 26 October, has died.
His aunt Isabel Ocliasa announced De Guzman’s passing on Facebook, writing: “Now he is free of pain. He sees his family strong and vowing to take care of his mother Belot, sister Erika and godmother Lourdes while he’s away.”
The victim, 20, a mechanical engineering student, sustained damage to his brain when the Grab car he was riding swerved and hit metal scaffolding along Taft Avenue in Manila.
The vehicle behind also rear-ended the Grab car, its driver taken by surprise by the sudden turn made by the driver of De Guzman.
“Now, his brain will never be confused, because he will watch from above as his friends and family tell the story of his life and how amazing he was as a friend, a nephew, a cousin and the best kuya and son ever,” she said.
Ocliasa thanked all those who prayed and showed an outpouring of support and love for Marko.
“Thank you all for the prayers, thank you for the overflowing love and support. Thank you for hoping with us and believing in Marko,” she posted.
