DEPARTMENT of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) secretary Roy Cimatu on Tuesday revealed that the agency will follow the same timeframe it employed in rehabilitating Boracay Island as it cleans up Bohol and El Nido next.

In a statement, Cimatu said that the main problems in Bohol and El Nido are also the quality of water, improper sewage system and easement violations. However, he added that he cannot divulge yet the number of establishments with violations.

On the gravity of the environmental problem in the two tourism sites, Cimatu said that unlike in Boracay Island, rehabilitation of El Nido and Bohol will only cover small areas with little amount of government intervention.
