GAC opens first dealer

GAC GA8 executive saloons are direct competitor to the likes of the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord.

Guangzhou Automobile Motor Corp. Limited (GAC), in tandem with its official Philippine distributor Legado Motors Inc. (LMI), formally opened its first dealership in the country recently.

The dealership in the Philippines was unveiled as GAC Motor Metrowalk-Pasig. Strategically located at the heart of Metro Manila, it has a relatively wide area of 3,200 square meters. The dealership’s showroom can feature 10 vehicle displays and the six service bays at the rear has five vehicle lifters.

With regard to post-sales services and repairs, the GAC-LMI after-sales team went through multiple training series in Guangzhou, China, focusing on the advancement of product knowledge, spare parts, engine and transmission technical know-how and systematized service workflow. While customers wait for processing of their respective unit repairs. buyers and prospective clients can fully enjoy GAC amenities such as hot and cold beverages, high-speed wireless Internet connection and a faux home theater lounge.

The GS8 full-sized sport utility vehicle is to rival icons such as the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado and Mitsubishi Pajero.

During its unveiling, GAC Motor Metrowalk-Pasig displayed the very autos shown during the GAC-LMI proper launch — the GA4 sedan, the GS4 subcompact sport utility vehicle (SUV), the GA8 executive saloon, the GM8 minivan and the flagship GS8 full-size SUV.

The entry level GA4 sedans were available in 1.5-liter manual transmission and 1.3-liter turbo gas automatic transmission models, while the GA8 executive sedans have four-seater and five-seater options. The flagship GS8 full-size SUV is offered in rear-wheel-drive and part-time four-wheel-drive.

The GS4 subcompact SUV has one variant, a turbocharged 1.5L straight four gas powerplant with a six-speed automatic gearbox.

The GM8 premium seven-seater minivan also has one variant.

If one has doubts about the marque’s reception, the China manufacturer was received well by pundits and public alike at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show. Motoring journos and Detroit Auto Show attendees marveled at the GAC Motor approach, given that the automaker presented itself as a premium brand.

“With its high approval in the Detroit Motor Show, GAC Motor has opened in Middle East and other parts of the world. We are also very proud to announce that GAC Motor ranked number (one) in the J.D. Power Initial Quality Study for six consecutive years from 2013 to 2018 and all GAC Motor vehicles received five-star ratings in China Automotive Technology and Research Center’s China-New Car Assessment Program or C-NCAP crash test. For these many reasons, we are truly confident to offer a five-year or 100,000-kilometer, whichever comes first, new vehicle warranty. Our factory-trained service personnel will surely take care of your after-sales needs,” beamed GAC Motor Metrowalk-Pasig branch head Brennan Lim.

GAC Motor Metrowalk-Pasig is at 1800 Ortigas Avenue, Barangay Ugong, Pasig City.
