President Rodrigo Duterte distributed 623 land titles to agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARB) in Boracay and other towns of Aklan on Thursday.

The 623 Certificates of Land Ownership Award (CLOA) covering 274 hectares were distributed to 484 ARB as part of the Agrarian Reform Program (ARP).

Six CLOA were distributed to members of the Boracay Ati Tribal Organization (BATO). A total of 45 BATO families are expected to benefit from the 3.2064 hectares of land covered by the six CLOA.

The 3.2 hectares of land in Barangay Manocmanoc is part of the 7.9 hectares of land originally turned over by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) to the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), according to DAR Secretary John Castriciones.

Castriciones, in a press conference on Thursday, assured Ati beneficiaries of the security of their land ownership.

“There is no need to worry,” he said adding that “Boracay is a government property.”

Castriciones said another 14 hectares of land in Barangay Balabag is being eyed by DAR under agrarian reform.

Meanwhile, aside from Ati tribe, DAR also distributed land titles to Tumandok tribe of Boracay.

Ma. Teresa Valencia, OIC of DAR-Aklan, said at least 31 families were the beneficiaries from the tribe.

Meanwhile, 33 CLOA for the 30.2704 hectares of land were given to 28 families in Barangays Kabulihan and Nabaoy in Malay in the mainland.

The big bulk of CLOA, totaling 534 were distributed to 484 beneficiaries in Barangay Tagas, Tangalan. The CLOA cover 183.7194 hectares.

Fifty CLOA for 56.3245 hectares of land were given to 50 beneficiaries in four barangays in Buruanga town.
