NBI collars woman for swindling

Agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Anti-Graft Division had arrested a woman for large scale swindling in a mall in Sta. Cruz, Manila.

NBI Director Dante Gierran identified yesterday the suspect as Bernadette Bernabe Badinas, a resident of Block 20, Lot 51 Sto. Niño, Bilibiran, Binangonan, Rizal.

Badinas was the subject of complaints filed by two individuals whom she enticed to participate in an investment scheme with a guaranteed return on investment (RoI) of at least 10 percent per month.

One of the complainants claimed to have made a deposit of P800,000 as investment but that the P45,000 and P85,000 in checks handed by Badinas as RoI bounced.

The NBI agents pounced on Badinas as she received P30,000 from the complainant as additional investment.

The suspect was brought to the NBI headquarters along Taft Avenue in Manila for booking. She tested positive of having held the marked money when her hands were subjected to ultraviolet light examination.
