The Police Regional Office (PRO)- 7 on Sunday assured it prepared and ready to serve the public observing the All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day this week.

PRO-7 director Chief Supt. Debold Sinas said policemen will be scattered to maintain peace and order in all 44 cemeteries in Central Visayas.

He estimated visitors in major cemeteries, especially in the metro cities, to reach 1.4 to 1.5 million.

Full alert status will be declared by midnight of 30 October, he said.

“We have to anticipate the rise in crimes in the tourist zones such as Cebu, Bohol, Dumaguete and Oslob town in the southern part of Cebu for the Undas,” Sinas added.

The Philippine Coast Guard and Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) in Central Visayas are also on alert until 5 November.

Security and safety policies will also be strictly implemented at seaports in coordination with the Regional Maritime Unit and port enforcement units.

Passengers assistance centers will be put up at the seaports.

LTFRB-7 Regional Director Eduardo Montealto said passenger assistance centers at bus terminals will be up starting Tuesday.

We have to anticipate the rise in crimes in the tourist zones such as Cebu, Bohol, Dumaguete and Oslob town in the southern part of Cebu for the “Undas.”

He added that they received 97 applications for special trips.

“We already gave special permits to jeepneys and mini buses for the two-day holidays for their special trips to augment possible shortages of buses because of the passenger volume,” he said.

Cebu City Police Office director Senior Supt. Royina Garma said at least 300 police officers will be deployed to augment the number of those in the field.

Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CCDRRMO) will also start inspection of public cemeteries from Barangays Pardo in the south to Barangay Talamban in the north.
