Cold season to start this week

Expect the mercury to drop in the coming days as the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) announced the northeast monsoon or the amihan season will start this week, signaling the onset of colder weather as the Christmas season also approaches.

At the same time, weatherman Aldczar Aurelio reported a high pressure area in China will strengthen the monsoon to further bring cold and dry air to the Philippines and other areas.

However, he added the administration has not monitored any potential weather disturbance in the next few days that will threaten the country.

According to Pagasa, residents of Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Bicol, Calabarzon, Cagayan Valley and Cordillera regions should expect cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms.
