Senate President (SP) Vicente Sotto III yesterday credited the entire Senate for the high satisfaction rating he received from the latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey.
Sotto earned a +55 public satisfaction rating in the SWS survey for the third quarter of 2018 conducted from 15-23 September using face-to-face interviews of 1,500 adults (18 years old and above) nationwide.
“It’s perhaps mainly because of the Senate’s performance. I’ll just continue to shepherd a productive Senate,” Sotto said.
The Third Quarter 2018 SWS survey only involved Vice President Leni Robredo, Sotto, House Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and Chief Justice Teresita Leonardo de Castro.
For his part, Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri said the high satisfaction rating of the Senate President has a positive impact to the Upper Chamber as a whole.
In a statement, Zubiri praised Sotto for the latter’s work ethics as leader of the Senate.
“Both as an industrious Majority Leader and now as the Senate President, he is still achieving things beyond our expectations,” Zubiri said of Sotto, who previously served as majority leader.
“He brought to all the positions he occupies the immense goodwill he holds as an independent minded senator who fought for causes across party lines,” he added.
Zubiri said Sotto’s personal high rating will definitely lend luster to the reputation of the Senate as an institution which has public interest at its core.
“SP Sotto ensures that the Senate will always be nationalistic, fair and bold in its legislative and investigative work. SP Sotto is also firm in the Senate’s role as fiscalizer of the national government budget,” Zubiri said.
