Shop without guilt because when you buy your groceries as well as personal and home care items, you also support the children in need.

This is what happens today, 17 October, when Unilever Philippines and Lazada launch their Shop2Give promotion to help needy children through the United Nations Children’s Fund (Unicef), an agency that provides assistance to vulnerable and needy children.

Inspired by the online shopping fever, Unilever Philippines chairman and chief executive officer Benjie Yap said it is about time to take shopping promos to the next level by helping society at the same time.

“When we have a combination of society having the chance to help as well as private organizations like us and Lazada, and Unicef benefiting through the children that they help, I think that it is just automatic for us to do this. In each and everything we do, we want to make sure that there is a chance to help society, and this is just the normal next step,” said Yap.

With this promotion, online shoppers will be able to help kids while buying their daily necessities in just a few clicks. As you fill your shopping cart during the 24-hour event, you will not only enjoy up to 80 percent discount on Unilever products, you also donate to Unicef beneficiaries. You can even purchase “buy-one-give-one” deals, a meaningful initiative that treats shoppers to massive discounts.

“We, at Unilever, stand with Unicef in their mission to save and improve children’s lives. Through the participation of all our leading brands, we aim to make a significant contribution in their programs that improve children’s health, provide access to clean and safe water and enhance sanitation and hygiene,” said Yap.

For one full day starting at midnight on 17 October, Unilever will quirkily transform Lazada platform with children’s drawings of their products, bringing focus to the beneficiaries of the activity.

“It’s an honor for Lazada to work with Unilever in saving and protecting our country’s most vulnerable children, especially during tough times. The benefits of ecommerce are limitless—in just a click, we could help in supplying these children’s basic needs, empowering them to reach their full potential,” said Lazada Philippines CEO Ray Alimurung. “We are one with Unicef in this mission—to protect children’s rights and their well-being, expanding their opportunities in the future.”

With Unilever brands participating in this initiative to reach more children in need, Unicef can only be grateful.

“We are fortunate to have champions in our midst who continue to explore solutions #ForTheKids — their needs, and their future. This only strengthens our resolve to reach more children as they will be 100 percent of our future,” said Unicef country representative Lotta Sylwander.

When purchasing Unilever products on Lazada, online shoppers can use the promo code SHOP2GIVE to get the discounted price. You can also collect vouchers to receive even more discounts on your carts when you check out. A donation will be made to UNICEF that benefits children for every purchase made.
