GMA 7 is aiming to change the usual habit of their Sunday viewers, as it launches a new variety show called Studio 7, which will premiere on 14 October, 7:40 to 8:40 p.m., on GMA Sunday Grande.
The show will feature a powerhouse cast of Kapuso stars who will give their 100 percent through singing, dancing and fun in every challenge they will face every week. Main highlights of the show are features on trending individuals online, plus a grand showdown of its cast.
Studio 7 marks the comeback of pop heartthrob Mark Bautista who considers the show a blessing. He is supposed to return abroad and continue doing musical theater, but when the offer came, he got excited. He will be joined by Asia’s Romantic Balladeer Christian Bautista and Asia’s Pop Sweetheart Julie Ann San Jose. This is the first show in GMA of twin showbiz royalties Cassy and Mavy Legaspi, and of newest Kapuso member Rayver Cruz.
They will be joined by the comedic duo of Donita Nose and Super Tekla, aka Donekla, who are expected to provide the laughs. Also in the show are teen stars Kyline Alcantara, Migo Adecer, Mikee Quintos and Kate Valdez.
The main event of the show will be The Clash finalists, grand champion Golden Canedo, Jong Madaliday, Garret Bolden, Josh Adornado and Mirriam Manalo, who will have a grand vocal showdown every episode along with Kapuso’s finest singers.
According to GMA 7, the idea for the show started after the hype of the recently concluded The Clash. They realized that Sunday viewing would be more interesting if there were a variety show a night before the start of the week. The network will aim to make it more intimate and different. They also want to make the audience part of the show.
“Everyone is talented. The show is ready,” Bautista said.
Donita considers it a sure hit. The show will be a continuation of her stint as host in Wowowin along with Super Tekla. We can expect them to do dance or song numbers this time.
The Legaspi twins are both excited and they thank their parents, Carmina and Zoren, for the chance. They think this is a good step forward after doing many television commercials.
Rayver is also happy for being part of Studio 7. He admitted that at first he was very shy to mingle with Kapuso stars. He felt more comfortable and at home after they underwent one or two tapings of the show. We can expect new dance moves and singing from him, too.
Studio 7’s creative team is headed by its director Paolo Valenciano along with Miguel Tanchanco. The two will direct the Sunday show.
