President Rodrigo Duterte admitted Thursday he was at the Cardinal Santos Medical Center in Quezon City for a test.
Duterte made the revelation in a speech before members of the Philippine Military Academy Alumni Association (PMAAA) contradicting Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque’s earlier statement denying he went to the hospital and instead took a day off on Wednesday.
In his speech at the PMAAA event, the 73-year-old Duterte said he went to the hospital to have a repeat endoscopy and colonoscopy on the advice of his doctor. He spent one hour at Cardinal Santos, he said, according to reports.
Duterte said he had endoscopy and colonoscopy three weeks ago and because of the result he needed the retest.
The president said that if he has third stage cancer, he will not undergo treatment.
