Filipino kids win

The Kilyawan Consortium of Voices Children’s Choir brought home two silver medals from the recent First World Youth Choral Festival and Competition held in Jeju, South Korea. The Philippines won in the secular and sacred categories over choirs from Korea, China, Italy and the United States.

The Kilyawan Consortium, under the baton of conductor Leonard Paul Cleofas, and supervision of Prof. Mark Anthony Carpio of the Philippine Madrigal Singers, was composed of kids from Claret School of Quezon City, Ateneo de Manila University, Miriam College, Quezon City High School, St. Paul College, St. Theresa’s College, St. Joseph College, Holy Family School, Far Eastern University Diliman, Mayfield Montessori, School of the Holy Spirit Quezon City and the University of the Philippines. Ably collaborating with Cleofas is assisting artist and pianist Gladys Renee B. Calubiran.
