CLASSIC LOOK

“The number one ranking that the Vios has enjoyed through the years does not give us reason to lessen our guards.

After its astounding performance in the subcompact car segment, Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) recently brought out an all-new, totally refreshed version of the Toyota Vios.

“We are confident that the all-new Vios will continue to make its mark as the best-selling passenger car in the country. The Vios touched the lives of many Filipinos and continues to serve its purpose. This all-new Vios will be better in keeping the promise of ‘always better purpose, always better lives,’” Toyota Motor Philippines president Satoru Suzuki said.

The fourth generation Toyota Vios is the most dynamic looking yet. Boldly sporting impressive body lines, it has gained a more classic image. The all-new Vios is now more mature than its predecessors.

The new front fascia grabs attention with its large, lower bumper grill design, that fluidly merges with the side vents and fog lights. The latest-gen Toyota Vios incorporates daytime running lights along with a mid-grill design. The new headlight design that stretches out to almost half of the front fender as well as the taillight and whole back end design resembles those of the Toyota Altis.

The Toyota Vios also got a bit bigger. Its length is now 4,425mm, 15mm longer than its predecessor and is 1,730mm wide, up by 30mm. The height remains at 1,475mm.

The all-new Vios is powered by the same engine as the previous model. The 1.5 variants will have the 2NR-FE engine rated at 106HP and 140Nm of torque. The 1NR-FE engine with 98hp power and 123Nm torque will be seen under the hood of the 1.3 variants.

“The number one ranking that the Vios has enjoyed through the years does not give us reason to lessen our guards,” said Cristina Arevalo, Toyota Motor Philippines first vice president for brand and product planning, vehicle sales operations and marketing.

“The Vios may be the best-selling passenger car but it needs to compete better in the high grade segment,” Arevalo added.

The fourth generation Vios added two new variants to its line — the G Prime and E Prime. These two new variants sport special features like the Prime exclusive front bumper, side skirt, rear bumper skirt and rear spoiler.

Despite its maturity, the 2018 Toyota Vios stays hip and maintains its appeal by being the first in the Vios bloodline to have paddle shifters as well as Sport drive mode and Eco drive mode for its 1.5 CVT variants.

Aside from these pleasant updates, the biggest development is with its safety features. The all-new Toyota Vios will now have all the safety features available across variants. Features such as the SRS airbags, anti-lock braking system (ABS), Vehicle Stability Control and Hill-Start Assist Control will be available even for the base model. These features are usually found only in high-end models and variants.

The all-new Toyota Vios price starts at P695,000 for the base manual transmission model up to P1.095 million for the 1.5 Prime CVT Model.
