DAVAO CITY – The SMB Davao Aguilas play dangerous Ceres Negros FC as the 2018 season of the Philippine Football League shifts its games to Mindanao on July 14.
The Davao del Norte Sports Complex in Tagum City will be the match venue.
The Aguilas, sporting a 7-7-3 win-loss-draw card in the standings, will play league-leader Ceres Negros FC (14-2-3), at 4 p.m.
“We came here prepared and ready for Ceres Negros FC. During our recent practices, we took time to adjust our defense. This will be a crucial match for us and we hope to win in front of our home crowd,” said SMB Davao Aguilas FC coach Melchor Anzures during Thursday’s Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum at the SM City Davao Annex.
“This will be a great game for us and we have a very good chance of winning,” bared James Younghusband, who came with brother Phil, Tyler Matas, Joshua Grommen and Omar Khan.
The Aguilas are coming off a 3-3 draw next to JPV Marikina last July 7 in Carmona with back-to-back wins in June over Kaya Iloilo in games played in Manila.
This will be the fourth encounter for both squads with Ceres Negros FC having the edge with three victories over this weekend’s hosts.
“On our coming fourth match-up, this will be different. We come home prepared as hosts and probably get this win,” Younghusband added.
