Love triangles for brunch

GMA Network once again catches us by surprise with the launch of its upcoming morning drama that features not-so-coosome threesomes.

There’s Sunshine Cruz and Bea Binene in conflict over Benjamin Alves; Sunshine Cruz and Bing Loyzaga over Zoren Legaspi; and David Licauco in love with Bea who is in love with Ben.

Not the real actors, of course, but the characters they portray.

Beginning July 16, GMA Network presents Kapag Nahati Ang Puso, which follows the story of Rio and Claire who unwittingly become fierce rivals without knowing their real relationship as mother and daughter.

Sunshine Cruz is Rio Matias, a simple island beauty who meets the rich and happy-go-lucky Manila tourist Nico Del Valle played by Zoren Legaspi. After a rough start, they fall for each other. Their relationship is thwarted by Miranda Aseron played by Bing Loyzaga. Miranda is Nico’s ex-girlfriend.

A series of events cause Rio to lose her family while Nico ends up taking care of their daughter Claire (Bea Binene).

Years pass, and Claire grows up without knowing her real parents. Meanwhile, a now successful Rio returns to the Philippines. The unsuspecting mother and daughter cross paths, and both end up falling in love with Joaquin (Benjamin Alves).

Playing an equally important role is David Licauco as Zach Yee, a varsity swimmer who is secretly in love with Claire.

Completing the cast are Raquel Villavicencio as Amparo, Robert Ortega as Chuck, Sharmaine Santiago as Jasmine, Geleen Eugenio as Delilah, Nar Cabico as Samson and special guest Freddie Webb as Ramon.

Under the helm of Gil Tejada, Jr., the intriguing story of bitter rivalries and complicated secrets begins on July 16, airing Mondays to Fridays on GMA-7’s morning block.
