Daut to inspire IP athletes

LAKE SEBU, South Cotabato – Mindanao State University professor Henry Daut will serve as resource speaker in the Indigenous People’s (IP) Forum starting Saturday at the Lake Sebu Municipal Gym here.
Daut, who also spearheaded the IP Forum launch in Tagum City last April, will tackle the theme “Restoring the Heritage, Reliving the Past, Rekindling the Spirit” that will be followed by an open forum.
Philippine Sports commissioner Charles Maxey said they expect around 100 participants from the Department of Education, National Commission on Indigenous People, Indigenous People Mandatory Representatives, municipal tourism office and various local government units.
“We are very happy with the reception and interest for the IP Forum, particularly the education sector. Students from the Lake Sebu Central Elementary School and National High School confirmed to attend,” Maxey said.
He said around 300 participants from T’boli, Lake Sebu, Koronadal City, and Surallah are expected to participate in the IP Games that will feature games such as the hemanak, hanaw or kadang, sedeyol be klifak bliboy, setanggung or lechon race, sudul, meyon kuda law, and defut or sfut.
Sen. Manny Pacquiao and South Cotabato Governor Daisy Avance Fuentes were invited to grace the opening ceremonies.
