VinFast is offering vehicle and battery warranties of up to 10 years in the Philippines as it seeks to address concerns about the long-term cost of electric vehicle ownership.

The coverage is aimed mainly at buyers who remain uncertain about battery life, replacement expenses and the reliability of EV technology.

VinFast vehicles sold with the battery included come with battery coverage of up to 10 years or 200,000 kilometers. Vehicle warranty periods can also reach 10 years, although the exact terms depend on the model.

Longer coverage may offer some financial protection to buyers who are still unfamiliar with EVs and newer automotive brands.

It may also affect the second-hand market since used-EV buyers have fewer familiar ways to assess battery condition compared with the checks commonly performed on gasoline and diesel vehicles.

VinFast also offers a Residual Value Guarantee program for eligible vehicles owned by their original buyers.

Under the program, a qualifying vehicle can retain a guaranteed value of up to 90 percent of its original net retail price after six months. The figure drops gradually to 70 percent after three years.

Warranty coverage, however, also depends on the availability of service facilities and technical support. VinFast has been expanding its local after-sales network and provides roadside assistance to owners.

The company has also tied its ownership package to the growing V-Green charging network. According to VinFast, the network currently has 137 charging stations across 22 areas in the country, including locations in Cebu and Mindanao.

VinFast owners can use V-Green stations without charging fees until 31 March 2029. The company also provides a home wall charger and installation with qualified vehicle purchases.

The 10-year coverage directly addresses battery concerns, while the residual value program offers protection against depreciation during the first few years.
