TAKE A GOOD LOOK WHEN LUKE MEJARES SINGS MICHAEL JACKSON

04/17/2008

Few of us may openly declare it with pride. But let’s face it. Many of us are just solid Michael Jackson fans, or at the very least, we simply love his songs.

How many times have we caught ourselves humming or singing along such unforgettable Jackson ballads as “One Day In Your Life,” “She’s Out Of My Life,” “Got To Be There” and “Human Nature”? Admit it or not, somewhere in our I-Tunes library or perhaps in our vintage cassette tapes collection lie such titles as “Wanna Be Starting Something,” “PYT,” “Billy Jean,” “Blame It On The Boogie,” “Rock With You,” “The Girl Is Mine” and “Thriller”—all chart-busting hits by the Gloved One.

This summer, the country’s top R&B sensation Luke Mejares will channel the world’s pop icon Michael Jackson in a rare musical event aptly titled “Luke? It’s Michael Jackson!” on April 25 (Friday), 8:30 in the evening at the Music Museum. Special guests include Thor, Amber and The Manouevres.

So we asked Luke, “Why sing Michael Jackson?”

“The songs in ‘Luke? It’s Michael Jackson!’ will be a soothing mixture of R&B and pop, which is how I really wanted to define my musicality in the first place,” says Luke. “So in this concert, I chose to sing the pop hits of Michael Jackson that I will merge with my own R&B style.”

How Luke Mejares will come up with a one-of-a-kind performance by drawing inspiration from both musical influence and personal affinity will surely be worth a good look on April 25.
